Wakefield Park

Wakefield Park is a neighborhood park in southwest Little Rock that provides a variety of recreational opportunities for residents of all ages. The park features a modern playground, mini-pitch soccer field, baseball field, walking trail, and open green space, creating a welcoming place for youth sports, outdoor play, and everyday recreation. Recent improvements have enhanced the park while maintaining its role as an important neighborhood gathering place.

History

Wakefield Park was developed to serve the growing Wakefield neighborhood and surrounding communities, providing convenient access to recreation close to home. For decades, the park has supported youth athletics, neighborhood events, and outdoor activities, becoming an important community asset in southwest Little Rock.

In 2021, Wakefield Park underwent significant improvements through a grant from the R.C. Bigelow Foundation, which funded the construction of a new playground and a mini-pitch soccer field. These additions expanded recreational opportunities for neighborhood youth while reinforcing the park’s role as a community destination for active play and healthy lifestyles. Today, Wakefield Park continues to provide accessible recreation and quality outdoor spaces for families throughout southwest Little Rock.
