Don’t see what you’re looking for?
If your item is not accepted at the Green Station, and it’s not listed on the Special Items page, please contact us at recycle@littlerock.gov or at 501-371-4646.
Check out the list below to learn more about other accepted items.
PLASTIC BAGS OF ANY KIND ARE NOT ACCEPTED IN RESIDENTIAL CURBSIDE RECYCLING!
- Why are plastic bags not accepted? Any soft plastic film (plastic you can stretch with your hands) gets tangled in the equipment at the recycling sorting facility, automatically shutting down equipment.
- So how can I recycle plastic bags? You can recycle clean plastic bags by taking them to the Green Station. Kroger, Wal-Mart, and Target also typically have containers located inside the entrance for plastic bag collection.
- At these special drop-off locations, you can include grocery bags (the regular plastic bags you pack your groceries in), produce bags (the smaller bags you get in the produce section), bubble wrap, newspaper bags, plastic outer wrap of toilet paper/paper towels, plastic outer wrap from a pallet of water bottles or soda, plastic tortilla bags, and the clear bags inside cereal or snack boxes. Make sure to recycle the box in your regular curbside bin!
If you have a stretchy plastic you’re not sure about, don’t hesitate to contact our office!
Glass is accepted in curbside recycling carts, but if you don’t have recycling where you live, you can drop it off at the Green Station, or at a drop-off location listed below.

Prohibited Items:
No Ammunition or explosives

You should never put an empty paint can in your recycling cart. The paint remaining in the can will cause contamination at the recycling sorting facility.
Paint should never be washed down your sink drain or into a stormwater drain. Only unopened cans of paint can be upcycled at Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
Used paint cans need to go in the trash, but first make sure you dry out the remaining paint with a bulking agent like kitty litter or sawdust, or you can pour remaining paint on newspaper to let it dry out. Then bag the paint can and put it in your trash.
The same process works for stains, paint thinners/stripper/solvents.
Tires can easily be recycled! But unfortunately, many people still illegally dump their unwanted tires instead of bringing them to the correct recycling facility. Used tires are a huge nuisance for the environment when they are not disposed of properly. Illegal tire dumping causes harmful chemicals to leak into soil and water, provides ample breeding grounds for disease causing mosquitoes, and tires never decompose. Tires should never be placed in your recycling cart or garbage cart.
Take used tires to 1800 E 14th St, Little Rock, AR during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 11:45 am and 12:30 – 3 pm.
Residents are allowed 4 tires per month disposal at no cost through the state-subsidized Tire Recycling Program. However, if the monthly quota has been met for free drop-off, you may have to pay associated fees: $3 per tire or $7.50 per tire with wheel.
Contact Davis Rubber Company at (501) 374-1473 for more tire recycling information.

Propane tanks pose serious risk to recycling facilities due to their tendency to explode if put under pressure. For the safety of our community’s recycling workers, never put propane tanks in your recycling cart.
You can take empty propane, butane, and helium tanks to:Rick’s LP Gas
