Sister Cities Commission

Established by Ordinances No. 16,306 and No. 16,345, the Little Rock Sister Cities Commission consists of thirteen (13) members who serve five-year terms. The Commission develops and supports Sister City relationships with communities around the world, promotes cultural, educational, and economic exchange, and helps residents learn about the history, traditions, and opportunities of Little Rock’s international partners.

Members are appointed by the Little Rock City Board of Directors.

A Sister City relationship is a formal, long-term partnership between two cities in different countries. Through collaborative projects, student exchanges, professional partnerships, and civic engagement, Sister Cities build lasting relationships that benefit residents of both communities.

A Friendship City relationship is an informal international partnership that fosters goodwill, cultural exchange, and mutual learning between communities. Friendship Cities often serve as a first step toward deeper collaboration, creating opportunities for dialogue and relationship-building.
