At 2:24 am, on May 17, 2026, Southwest patrol officers responded to the 8215 I-30 Frontage Road for a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision. The pedestrian, 62-year-old David Wayne King, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The next of kin was notified once the identification was confirmed.
A patrol supervisor arrived on scene and notified Accident Reconstruction Officers who responded to process the scene, take photographs, collect evidence and take measurements. At this point in the investigation, no charges have been filed pending a comprehensive review. This investigation is ongoing.
