LITTLE ROCK – The City of Little Rock has implemented its inclement weather policy for city employees for Monday, Jan. 26. City offices will be closed except for essential and emergency services such as the police and fire departments, public works and emergency communications.
City of Little Rock trash pickup and WM recycling pickup are canceled for Monday because of dangerous road conditions, and collections will resume when road conditions improve. Residents whose trash collection is canceled may place additional bags curbside on their next regularly scheduled pickup day. Additional recyclable material may be placed in cardboard boxes adjacent to recycling carts.
Crews are working in 12-hour rotating shifts to clear snow and ice from the City’s primary roads. Crews will treat nine snow routes first, then move to secondary roads and neighborhood streets. Motorists are asked to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. Drivers should give crews and equipment plenty of space so that roads may be cleared safely and quickly.
Little Rock’s 24-hour cold-weather emergency shelter has been mobilized at Dunbar Community Center, 1001 W. 16th St., for anyone who needs a warm, safe place to stay.
