Otter Creek Park is a regional park in southwest Little Rock that offers a balance of active recreation and natural open space. Designed to serve one of the city’s fastest-growing areas, the park features athletic fields, playgrounds, walking trails, picnic areas, and a fishing pond, providing opportunities for sports, outdoor play, and family recreation. Its expansive layout and room for future growth make Otter Creek Park an important recreational destination for southwest Little Rock.
History
Otter Creek Park was established to meet the recreational needs of the rapidly developing Otter Creek area as southwest Little Rock experienced significant residential growth during the 1970s and 1980s. As the surrounding community expanded, the park became a focal point for neighborhood recreation, offering space for youth athletics, community events, and outdoor activities.
The park has continued to evolve to meet changing recreational needs. Master planning efforts have identified opportunities for additional soccer fields, expanded parking, new pavilions, improved restroom and concession facilities, and enhancements to the fishing pond as funding becomes available. These planned improvements reflect the park’s continued role as a growing recreational hub for southwest Little Rock.
