Murray Park is one of Little Rock’s most popular riverfront destinations, offering a wide variety of outdoor recreation along the Arkansas River. With its scenic setting and expansive space, the park provides areas for play, sports, picnics, and river access, making it a favorite spot for both families and outdoor enthusiasts.
History
Located just downstream from the Murray Lock and Dam, the land for Murray Park is leased to the City of Little Rock by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Corps developed the park in 1976 at an approximate cost of $2.25 million. Extensive site preparation was required, including the construction of recreation facilities and a protective rock revetment to safeguard the park from the Arkansas River.
