Knoop Park is a community park perched on one of the highest points in Little Rock, offering panoramic views of the downtown skyline, the Arkansas River, and the surrounding neighborhoods. History
Knoop Park was established in the early 1930s as part of the City’s growing park system, with much of its original development completed through the Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the Great Depression. The park’s stone stairways, overlooks, and pathways reflect the craftsmanship of that era and continue to provide visitors with access to some of the best scenic viewpoints in Little Rock.
The park is named in honor of Werner C. Knoop, a prominent Little Rock businessman, civic leader, and member of one of the city’s early development families. Situated near the historic Little Rock Water Works and surrounded by the historic Heights and Hillcrest neighborhoods, Knoop Park has long served as a quiet retreat where residents can experience nature without leaving the city. Today, the park remains one of Little Rock’s premier destinations for walking, outdoor recreation, and scenic overlooks.
