Cheatem Park is a 2.2 acre park in a neighborhood space in east Little Rock. Offering open play areas, sports courts, and picnic amenities, the park provides a convenient place for families and community members to gather and enjoy the outdoors.
History
Cheatem Park was established in 1975 with funding assistance from the Model Cities Program. The park was named after Floyd Cheatem, a Little Rock citizen recognized for promoting goodwill and community spirit.
Located next to the former Pfeifer Elementary School, the park has remained a central neighborhood green space even as the area around it has changed. When the school was demolished in 1978, the land was repurposed for a public school system warehouse, but the park has continued to serve local residents as a welcoming community hub.
