Western Hills Park

Western Hills Park is a community park in southwest Little Rock that blends recreation with natural beauty. Set on the rolling landscape of a former golf course, the park features walking trails, a fishing lake, playground, pavilion, and open green space. The park’s mature trees, Fourche Creek corridor, and expanding trail network make it a popular destination for walking, fishing, birdwatching, and neighborhood recreation while serving as an important link in the City’s future Tri-Creek Greenway.

History

The property that is now Western Hills Park was originally home to the Western Hills Country Club and Golf Course, which served southwest Little Rock for decades. After golf operations ceased, the City acquired the property and began transforming it into a public park, preserving much of the landscape while opening the space for broader community use.

In recent years, Western Hills Park has undergone significant improvements through the Arkansas Outdoor Recreation Grants Program (Outdoor Legacy Program) and other City investments. New amenities, including a playground, pavilion, paved walking trails, parking improvements, and enhanced accessibility, have transformed the park into a modern community destination while maintaining its natural character. Today, Western Hills Park continues to evolve as both a neighborhood gathering place and a key component of Little Rock’s long-term Tri-Creek Greenway vision, connecting parks, trails, and natural areas throughout southwest Little Rock.
