History

Southwest Park was developed to serve the growing neighborhoods of southwest Little Rock by providing a centralized location for recreation, wellness, and community programming. Over the years, the park has expanded alongside the Southwest Community Center, creating a campus that offers both indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities for residents of all ages.

Today, Southwest Park continues to be one of Little Rock Parks & Recreation’s busiest community destinations. The park hosts youth athletics, seasonal aquatics, fitness activities, special events, and family programming throughout the year while serving as an important gathering place for the surrounding community. Its location alongside the Dee Brown Library and Southwest Police Precinct further strengthens its role as a neighborhood center for recreation, learning, and community engagement.
