Rose Creek Park is a small natural area tucked between the Capitol View and Stifft Station neighborhoods. Centered along Rose Creek, the park provides a peaceful setting for walking, mountain biking, wildlife observation, and enjoying nature just minutes from downtown Little Rock. The park is closely connected to the Rose Creek Trail and serves as an important green space within the Rose Creek watershed.
History
The vision for preserving the Rose Creek corridor dates back more than a century. In 1913, landscape architect John Nolen identified the Rose Creek valley as an ideal location for a public park, recognizing its natural beauty and potential to connect neighborhoods with the Arkansas River. Although the area remained largely undeveloped for decades, local residents renewed that vision in 2004 by forming the Rose Creek Initiative, a grassroots organization dedicated to creating a public park, trail system, and healthier watershed.
Through partnerships between neighborhood volunteers, the City of Little Rock, and community organizations, Rose Creek Park has grown into an important neighborhood green space while serving as the foundation for the broader Rose Creek Trail project. Ongoing improvements continue to expand trail connections, restore the watershed, and transform the creek corridor into a recreational and environmental asset for the surrounding community.
