Mayor’s Internships

The Mayor’s Office welcomes interns throughout the year. Interns collaborate with the Mayor’s Office staff to perform project-based research, write memos, attend meetings, develop correspondence, and perform other duties as assigned.

During the summer term, Mayor’s Office interns participate in a lunch and learn speaker series that illuminates different aspects of running the largest city in the state while also exploring potential careers within local government. In certain cases, summer internships are paid as part of the City’s Summer Youth Employment Program.

In the fall, spring, and winter months, the Mayor’s Office offers unpaid, experiential learning internships for undergraduate, graduate and law students. Generally, these internships are a collaboration between local colleges, universities, and graduate schools and provide a deep dive into one subject or project area. The Mayor’s Office works with students to fulfill their school requirements while also meeting the needs of a busy, government office.

For summer internships, the application timeline is as follows:

February 15: Applications open, review begins on a rolling basis
April 1: Applications close
By May 15: Summer internship offers extended

To apply, interested students should email a copy of their resume to Ashley Willis (awillis@littlerock.gov) and James Owen (jowen@littlerock.gov).
